Jack Rodwell made his comeback in that game after a two-match absence, while Maicon may return from a heel problem.
Lee Cattermole remains suspended for Sunderland, who have no fresh injury concerns.
Phil Bardsley and Wes Brown are both back in training but short of fitness, but Carlos Cuellar could return.
